April - 2009 - The Blackberry Wonder
From a performance at Wembly Arena w/ Meatloaf
" Especially vital was the role played by...Pamela Moore. Indeed, so powerful and passionate was her performance that there were moments that she was in with a very real chance of stealing the show." (John Blake: The Standard, London)
The Blackberry Blues Band has been chronically under-recorded, although the act dates back to the early 1970s, when they were known as the Blackberry Booze Band. At that time, members included Southside Johnny, bassist David Meyers, percussionist/vocalist Kenny "Popeye" Pentifallo and guitarist Little Steven Van Zandt. Bassist Meyers performed in the early days of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes but left the band with keyboardist George Meyer to form what is now known as the Blackberry Blues Band.
A recent version of the group includes Pamela Moore on lead vocals; Meyer on keyboards and vocals; David Meyers on bass and vocals; Jim Verdi on drums and percussion and Mario Casella on guitar, bass and vocals.
Those unable to attend the show may order the band's self-produced compact disc via the Web site: www.blackberrybluesband.com
Richard Skelly: Asbury Park Press
Pamela is a force of nature - truly charismatic. She's got that "it" that all entertainers so elusively pursue, but can only be born with. Gloria Bonelli
